In addition to general medical consultations, we run a range of specialist clinics and services for our patients. The services we provide are listed here.
Asthma Clinic
Budbrooke have an internal Asthma nurses and invite a specialist Asthma/COPD nurse in yearly to hold extended clinics at the practice to complete your annual Asthma/COPD reviews. You would be contacted for your yearly review via text message, telephone or the NHS app. You must ensure that you are up-to-date with your annual reviews, if you have not been contacted and are asthmatic, please get hold off reception on 01926 403 800. For general Asthma related health issues you may get year round, you can see our nurse for a check-up.
If your asthma control deteriorates so that it disturbs your sleep or you have symptoms in the daytime or you have an asthma attack, you should make an appointment with your usual doctor as soon as possible.
Screening Tests
Screening is a way of finding out if people are at higher risk of a health problem, so that early treatment can be offered or information given to help them make informed decisions. Click on the links below to see more information about each one:
- Cervical – If you feel are due your smear and have not been contacted to book in, please ring reception on 01926 403 800
- Bowel – If you have not been invited for a Bowl Screening and feel you are due one please call 0800 707 6060
- Breast – If you have not been invited for a Breast Screening and feel you are due one please call 02476 967200
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm – If you have not been contacted for you AAA Screening please ring Tel: 01788 663428 or email: AAAScreeningProgramme@uhcw.nhs.uk
- Pre-diabetes – The practice perform NHS Health checks – to book in please ring reception
- Diabetic Eye Screening – To get in contact with the Diabetic Eye Screening service please call 01905 896333.
- PSA Screening – Please call reception on 01926 403 800 to arrange a blood test, for only if you do not have symptoms. If you do have symptoms, please arrange a GP appointment.
Phlebotomy Clinic
Our Healthcare Assistant, Sam Hawtin, holds clinics throughout the week for blood tests. These are usually held between 08:00am and 13:00pm, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays.
Family Planning Clinic
For ‘Family Planning’ assistance you can see doctors such as Dr Tilly Holt & Dr Lisa Dishman, this includes coming off contraception, trying to conceive or beginning a new contraception style.
If you plan to initiate contraception, you will need to speak to a GP for your first appointment.
Any appointment you need in relation to your already initiated contraception choice, the nurses would be able to assist.
Diabetes Clinic
Diabetics are recalled yearly for their annual reviews. It is important that you attend annually to be reviewed. You would need to book an appointment with the Healthcare Assistant (Sam Hawtin) initially for a blood test, ACR (urine sample), BP check & foot check. One week later, you have an appointment with our nursing team (Sally Bell or Ruth Mullineux) to review. Usually our reception team will recall patients via telephone, text message or NHS app. If you have not been recalled but you have diabetes, it is best to call our reception team on 01926 403 800, as it is important to attend the surgery yearly to be checked over.

Heart Failure Clinics
We provide appointments for advice and perform assessments on our patients with high blood pressure or risk of heart disease. Patients with existing heart disease, such as those who have had heart attacks, should be reviewed at least once a year by their usual doctor.
Hypertension
Book in with the Healthcare Assistant to have your U&Es (kidney function blood test) and provide blood pressure readings. You will then need to book in with the Clinical Pharmacist to review your medication.
Non-hypertensives but raised blood pressure readings, please book in with the Clinical Pharmacist or nurse, however, if much higher than normal, please see the GP the same day.
COPD Clinic
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) clinics are held annually for patients with the nursing team. Patients are recalled via telephone, text message or the NHS app if they are due their annual review. If you have a flare up and use your ‘Rescue Pack’ Please call the next working day to speak to your GP/COPD nurse to get another pack. Please ensure you request your repeat prescriptions by 2 working days in advance.
Vaccinations - Shingles
Shingles is a painful rash caused by the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus, the same virus that causes chickenpox. Shingles can lead to complications like postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), a chronic pain condition, and other serious problems.
It is recommended that anyone aged 70 plus and anyone in their 70s who was born after 1 September 1942 and have not yet had the vaccine, are eligible. If you are aged 78 or over 79 years old and have missed out on the vaccine are also eligible. If you are high risk, but under 70 years old, you may be also eligible. This usually involves two vaccinations at separate times.

Adult Hearing Services
Industrial Diagnostics Company (IDC) takes referrals from General Practitioners from many surgeries and use Budbrooke Medical Centre as one of their locations to fulfil their service. Service users referred by a GP will include individuals with the following requirements:
- Hearing assessment/Ear Wax Removal
- NHS Hearing Aid Assessment and Fitting
- NHS Hearing Aid Aftercare
- NHS Hearing Aid reassessment

Travel Vaccinations and Non-NHS Services
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you will need to contact reception at least 6 weeks before your travelling date. You will be sent across a travel questionnaire via text message. This is then reviewed by the nursing team and they will be in contact with what vaccinations you may need before your trip. It is important you request this questionnaire as early as possible to avoid delay or prevent not having enough time to get your vaccinations.

The NHS does not pay for all of the services we provide, so patients may be required to pay for some of these services. Please see attached list.

Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) Aged 16 Years and Over
IAPT services are for people with mild, moderate and moderate to severe, symptoms of anxiety or depression, living in Coventry, Solihull or Warwickshire and are 16 years and over.

MIND Practitioner/Early Intervention Mental Health Services for Aged 11 Years and Over
Mental health practitioners are based every Tuesday at Budbrooke Medical Centre
At Budbrooke Medical Centre, we have an on-site Mind Practitioner called Rachel, she is here every Tuesday. Patients are able to self-refer to Rachel or alternatively, the GP can refer a patient to see her if they feel it is necessary. If you feel you have a decline in your mental health, are suffering with anxiety, stress or depression, you are able to contact reception to book your initial appointment with Rachel. Social Prescriber
A social prescriber, also known as a social prescribing link worker, connects individuals with local community activities and services to improve their health and wellbeing. They help people address social, emotional, and practical needs that impact their overall well-being, rather than relying solely on medical interventions.
At Budbrooke Medical Centre, our social prescriber is Tracey Bugg. Reception and clinicians are able to refer you to the Social Prescriber. You can request this via telephone call or accurx triage:
Clinical Pharmacist
A clinical pharmacist is a highly trained healthcare professional who specialises in medicines and their use in treating specific diseases. They work directly with patients and other healthcare providers to optimize medication use, improve patient outcomes, and ensure safe and effective treatment.
Our Clinical Pharmacist at the practice is Furhan Ansari. He is able to complete medication reviews, medication queries, simple UTIs, sick note extensions etc.
Advanced Physiotherapist
An Advanced Physiotherapist is a highly trained physiotherapist who can assess, diagnose, and manage musculoskeletal (MSK) problems, allowing patients to access specialised care directly without needing a GP referral first, you are able to self-refer yourself to the FCP if you are experiencing any musculoskeletal pain or issues.
Who can use this service?
- Patients over 16
- All soft tissue injuries, sprains, strains or sports injuries
- Arthritis – any joint
- Possible problems with muscles, ligaments, tendons or bone (e.g. tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, ankle sprains)
- Spinal pain including lower back pain, mid-back pain and neck pain
- Spinal-related pain in arms or legs, including nerve symptoms (e.g. pins and needles or numbness)
Here at Budbrooke Medical Centre, our FCP is called Joanna Smith. She is based at the practice every Thursday. You are able to book straight into her clinic if you are suffering with the above via telephone or accurx triage.
